Las Vegas Sun Nick Jonas toasts 21st birthday with Miss Universe girlfriend Olivia Culpo, brothers at Wynn and Encore
It was a star-studded early morning party today for birthday boy Nick Jonas as he celebrated his 21st birthday with a kiss from girlfriend Olivia Culpo, the Rhode Island beauty who won the 2012 Miss USA and Miss Universe titles here at Planet Hollywood.
Brothers Kevin and Joe and their significant others, wife Danielle Jonas and girlfriend Blanda Eggenschwiler, respectively, made the celebrations a family affair. But also on hand in separate groups: Enrique Iglesias, in town for two concerts at the Boulevard Pool at the Cosmopolitan; newly single actor Liam Hemsworth, whose longtime engagement to Miley Cyrus ended over the weekend; and “Celebrity Apprentice” star, rapper and DJ Lil Jon.
Here’s the official rundown of how Nick counted down the minutes Sunday night before he turned 21 and was allowed entry early this morning to XS at Steve Wynn’s Encore for his first glass of
Champagne:
Our spywitness reported that the family group checked into Wynn Las Vegas on Saturday for the weekend, which began at Wynn Theater to meet the cast of “Le Reve — The Dream.” The performers showered Nick with early birthday wishes before Kevin and Joe joined him to pose for shots with the cast.
The brothers, who performed at the Mandalay Bay Events Center last month, were joined by their significant others for dinner at Andrea’s. Nick and Olivia were very playful and cuddly during dinner, while Kevin was doting on his expectant wife. The group, presented with signature chopsticks with their names engraved on them, enjoyed chef Joseph Elevado’s crispy tuna and special cucumber rolls, spicy tuna shrimp tempura, lettuce cups, New York Strip steak, black cod, Jidori chicken and smoked salmon.
On Sunday, the Jo Bros played golf and watched football before the big night.
A group of 25 of Nick’s friends and family gathered at Botero at Encore at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday for dinner on the patio and enjoyed steaks, truffle macaroni and cheese, ricotta gnocchi, wild mushrooms and more.
At the stroke of midnight, Nick was watching his iPhone’s date change over to this morning to officially ring in his birthday. The group erupted in applause while Botero staff presented Nick with a four-tier cake. The brothers sang “Happy Birthday” while Olivia snapped pictures on her phone. The couple cozied up, toasting with Champagne, followed by a kiss.
A family tradition followed as Nick made the first cut of the cake and then handed the knife over to Danielle, who has the next upcoming birthday, to make the final cut before it was served to the group. Kevin explained the family tradition to their friends at the table.
Fifteen minutes after turning 21, Nick led the group to the red carpet at XS. Nick revealed that he is looking forward to music and acting projects in the year ahead and that Olivia gave him a necklace for his birthday. Joe gave him a pair of Frank Sinatra’s tap shoes. Kevin went big, getting a few chips from Wynn to test his luck on the table games after the party.
A group of 20 was escorted down the nightclub’s golden staircase just after 1 a.m,. with 30 waitresses flanking them and waving light wands to direct them through the crowd. Headlining DJ Avicii even grabbed a photograph with the group before starting his set.
A second birthday cake was brought out by XS model waitresses. It was themed in true Las Vegas style with seven tiers of poker chips, card suits and black and red colors. The group partied into the early hours of the morning.
