A pop supergroup that will delight area teens
CHARLESTON — The Clay Center has added a special event to its fall performance season, and it should cause droves of teenage girls to scream with delight.
The Jonas Brothers will take the stage Oct. 25 at the local concert hall, according to Clay Center spokeswoman LeAnn Dickens.
The siblings, who exploded onto the music scene in 2007 with their self-titled album, “The Jonas Brothers,” are expected to perform such popular hits as “S.O.S.,” “Burnin’ Up” and “Pom Poms.”
Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas have sold a combined 20 million units worldwide and earned more than 40 gold and platinum record certifications.
They received their first Grammy nomination in 2008 for Best New Artist and have won nearly 50 awards across the globe, including an American Music Award.
The siblings also own the Guinness World Record for “Most Singles to Enter Straight into the U.S. Top 20 in a Year by a Group.”
Furthermore, the trio has made its mark on the television waves with several hit series.
Opening for the Jonas Brothers will be singer-songwriter Bonnie McKee.
McKee, who was named Rolling Stone magazine’s “Best Secret Weapon” in 2011, has co-written eight No. 1 singles that have sold more than 25 million copies worldwide.
She also collaborated with pop phenomenon Katy Perry to co-write the smash hits “California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.),” “Part of Me,” “Wide Awake” and “Roar.”
Additionally, McKee has worked with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Ke$ha, Kylie Minogue, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Carly Rae Jepsen and Leona Lewis.
According to Dickens, tickets currently are on sale and can be purchased at the Clay Center box office, by calling (304) 561-3570 or by visiting www.theclaycenter.org.
Prices range from $45 to $125, Dickens said.
The show begins at 7 p.m.
